Clyde Pumps Supports Young Engineers Club

The Clyde Pumps association with the Young Engineers Club at Clarkston Primary School in Airdrie began in 2007 when the school approached the Company looking to build a link to industry for the club…..

2007 Success

In May 2007 the club, made up of boys and girls from Primary 7 at the school, visited Cathcart and spent the day touring the facility, seeing engineering in action and undertaking a series of fun engineering challenges.

This group then went on to win two prizes at the ‘Young Engineers Clubs Celebration of Engineering 2007’.  They were ‘Primary Showcase’ winner and picked up the prize for the ‘Best Team Presentation’ where their presentation was based on the day at Clyde Pumps!  The club are seen here on their stand at the event and collecting their trophy.

2008 Challengers

Building on the success of the association last year, the current members of the Club visited Cathcart in March during National Science and Engineering Week for a fun day of ‘engineering in action’.  Here you see them prepared for their tour of the manufacturing facility

At the end of the day the Club were set a challenge to design and build a system to lift water onto a platform using their Young Engineers Club resources – a challenge similar to the application of Clyde Pumps products!

A visit to the Club at the school is planned for May to review progress on the challenge and establish how Clyde Pumps can support further success at the ‘Celebration of Engineering 2008’ to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on 12 June 2008.
