• Godavari Power Station, in Andhra Pradesh, India, is a 46 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant operated by Spectrum Power Generation.

• The pumps involved in the project were the FT-8B-37D Boiler Feed Pumps installed in the main plant.

The Project:                                                                           

• The Boiler Feed pumps at Godavari Power station are 8 stage units originally supplied by Weir Pumps in the UK. Spectrum Power Generation contacted Clyde Pumps Ltd to investigate the feasibility of de-rating their BFP to reduce their energy consumption.

• Clyde Pumps Engineering team conducted an in-depth engineering feasibility study, based on the information supplied by the client. Clyde engineers identified that the Boiler Feed Pump could indeed be de-staged, whilst still providing the required throughput for the plant to operate at normal capacity.
