Clyde Pumps, incorporating Weir Pumps Glasgow, has completed the demanding ASME survey for renewing their ASME Certificates of Authorisation used in the supply of ‘N’, ‘NPT’ and ‘NS’ equipment. Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that promotes the art of science and practice of mechanical, multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences throughout the world.

This is the 11th time the Society has renewed Clyde Pumps certificates and we are now authorised for a further three years. Clyde Pumps will be able to continue with our proven specialist power products and nuclear pump portfolio [1]. The survey team from ASME complimented Clyde Pumps on their preparation. This recognises the high level of experience and dedication required to prepare, demonstrate and audit current nuclear projects throughout the design and manufacturing stages. Six months of detailed preparation has culminated in another successful renewal survey.

The Certificates of Authorisation held by Clyde Pumps cover the supply of pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels and supports. ASME Survey team members observe drawings, procedures, reports and other information necessary to determine the Quality Programme is in compliance with all appropriate ASME Codes and Standards. This is a long and detailed process which scrutinises Clyde Pumps products and services to the high standard required by the nuclear industry sector.

Clyde Pumps has held certificates of authorisation since 1977 and ASME Section III ‘N’ and ‘NPT’ stamps have been used since this date. This successful renewal means Clyde Pump has 31 years experience of operating to the high standards required by ASME for the supply of safety related equipment in the nuclear industry sector.
