Requirements

Job Description
The above temporary vacancy has arisen within the Operational Sales Support Department at Cathcart for a period of up to 1 year.  The successful applicant will join a Team dedicated in supporting key areas of the business in producing product costing and cost reduction.
 
Key responsibilities for the job include;
Producing on-time accurate and valid costing defined by project specific scope / specification; through the development of product costing programmes or generating them manually using our core corporate systems.
Liaise with all areas of the business to identify and implement cost reduction activities.
Provide support in the production of tender plans.


Requirements

Applicants should be time served and qualified to National Certificate level or equivalent and have a wide knowledge of the Company's products particularly in rotating equipment areas.  The ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing is required as the position involves interaction with all areas of Staff and Management.  Proven computing skills are required, in particular MS Excel and MS Projects. Job Title:

Instrumentation Engineer

Job Description

Responsible for the engineering of instrumentation and related hardware for pump sets and their ancillary equipment.  Assess and understand client specifications and apply regulatory and international standards.  Create technical specifications for the procurement of sub-supplier instrumentation equipment and to liaise with customers and suppliers on technical matters.

Assessment of Tenders, review & comment on specifications, supply of pump mounted instrumentation costs (inclusive of monitoring & control panels where applicable), production of P&ID’s & instrument schedules and review of sub-supplier quotations.  Ensuring tendered offered meets contract specification requirements, production of instrumentation parts lists and purchase requisitions.  Supply of contract documentation, instrument schedules, instrument data sheets, logic diagrams, cause & effect charts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, hook-ups, single line diagrams, IS loop calculations etc. 

Production of technical specifications for gaugeboards, monitoring panels, control panels etc and subsequent review of sub-suppliers quotations, software, documentation & test procedures.  Configuring monitoring systems (mainly Bently Nevada 3500 systems), digital panel meters, HART transmitters, trip amplifiers etc.  Inspection & test of sub-suppliers equipment including monitoring & control panels, lube oil consoles, filtration systems and flushing systems etc.  Providing support to shop floor with instrumentation assembly, test, inspection & troubleshooting.



Requirements

HNC in Instrumentation & Control (or a related subject) with at least 3 years relevant experience in detailed engineering of heavy rotating machinery, preferably pumps.  Practical knowledge and experience in mechanical assemblies and packaging of equipment.
Awareness in the application of regulatory standards and design codes for instrumentation and other international engineering guidelines relative to the pumping industry.
To be aware of the importance of relevant time, cost, quality and planning factors involved in engineering projects.  To be a pro-active team worker and share knowledge and experience with others.

Electrical Machines Specialist

Job Description

The post holder will provides specialist engineering support where Electrical Equipment is fundamental to the scope of supply of pumping equipment, consisting of supervision of suppliers of electric motors, inverter drives, associated controllers and assurance of compatibility between all hardware/software.  Key responsibility for all aspects of electrical design and through-life support of Submersible Electric Motors.  Provides specialist assistance to the Company’s Senior Authorised Persons in respect of the Cathcart Site’s Electrical Safety Rules and Codes of Practice.
Provide support to sales teams to develop cost effective solutions contributing to order winning strategies.  Ensure that orders taken are both technically and commercially acceptable.  Prepare procurement specifications and requisitions as required.  Liase with clients & sub-contractors on matters of electrical design and specification compliance.  Responsible for the electrical design of Submersible Electric Motors, Liase with Custom Engineering Dept in completion of Submersible Motor contracts, preparation and submission of software, etc as required and oversee testing, approve results and issue motor test records.  Manage/control project costs with respect to electrical equipment and services and report unplanned expenditure prior to spend.  Represent Clyde Pumps at witness testing of sub-contract electrical equipment when required.
As the sole Electrical Machines Specialist in a mechanical engineering environment, the position carries a high level of responsibility in the required area of expertise.



Requirements
  • HNC (Degree preferable) in Electrical Engineering and 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experienced in design and engineering in relation to electric motors and inverter drives. A working knowledge of programmable logic controllers, control systems and electrical power systems would be advantageous.
  • Conversant with world-wide standards for electrical equipment and experienced in the works practices and testing procedures applied to electrical machines.
  • Capable of working independently with the ability to solve problems from bid stage, through design & manufacture and at site in commissioning and fault situations

  • Experience in using 2D CAD drawing packages.  Exposure to 3D CAD and solid modelling (Solidworks) is preferred.

Hydraulic Performance Analyst

Analysis of pump test records to create and update standardised performance characteristics for use within the company.  Refine working practices to improve working methods using where appropriate standard packages such as Microsoft Excel.  Liaise with Pump Test Department and R&D Laboratory to request additional tests and/or technical information to enhance the database.  Liaise with the Maintenance Team associated with the company's pump selection software to ensure that records are updated and accurate.



Requirements
  • Minimum requirements 5 x GCSE or 6 Standard Grades, and at least two Highers or A levels, one preferably in Maths.
